I am Sharon Williams, a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate, as well as a wife and a mother of four grown sons: one Army veteran and one Airman. My background encompasses social work, teaching, advocacy, and parenting, which enrich my counseling services. With a holistic approach to counseling, I bring practical wisdom, clinical training, and unique insight to help you find meaningful connection and direction. Together, we will engage in hard conversations about reality and possibility, all within a safe environment.

The name, Living on Purpose Therapy, stems from the belief that everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life, especially when you bravely and intentionally step toward your future. A therapist is a guide or companion as you intentionally pursue healing and wholeness. Connection is the goal and the medium through which healing can flow. Whether it's individual or relationship counseling, I understand the whole person as a part of a system where attachment styles and communication patterns are both the source of pain and the path to healing.

Taking a holistic approach to counseling, we will focus on the mind, body, and spirit. I provide a variety of counseling services for individuals, couples, and families. Each service is tailored to meet the unique needs of every client. As a mental health counselor, I am trained in a range of evidence-based techniques and therapies, viewed through a trauma lens. These include, but are not limited to, CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Person Centered, Choice Theory, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Systems theory, Gottman, and EFT style. I am a certified SYMBIS facilitator and offer the assessment to pre-married couples.

Shifting winds bring far-reaching tides.
If you could tell your story in 6 words, what would it say? Looking at the here and now of my life, with my history in mind, I narrowed it down to this description. It is like uncovering the tip of an iceberg but knowing all the details are attached underneath. I know my past is part of my present, yet we live our lives through seasons. I am currently in a season of a lot of change. “Shifting winds” equals “a lot of change.” I am at the tail end of the child-rearing stage. I have four adult children: one still at home while he goes to welding school, one in the Air Force, one Army Vet who is now in college, and one college grad working in Non-Profit fields and pursuing a doctorate. As they are embarking on their lives outside of our home and stepping into the world with great influence, “bringing far-reaching tides,” I am looking forward and anticipating the next stage of life. Normalizing the changes helps alleviate some of the fear of loss and anxiety that comes with adjustments.
In this time of transition, I often reflect on how counseling services, particularly a holistic approach to counseling, can provide support during such significant life changes. It’s important to have a mental health counselor to help navigate these emotions and challenges.
